2017 Inner Circle Show is Another Smash Hit
New show, new venue; same resounding success.
The 2017 Inner Circle Show played to a packed house on April 1 continuing a 95 year tradition of political parody, jokes and song & dance.
“TRUMPED! de Blasio to the Rescue?” asked whether Mayor Bill could foil new President Donald Trump in a romp that included Darth Vader, a wall around Trump Tower, a tunnel dug by “El Chapo,” goofs of governors and cabinet members, and even a Mariachi band.
The mayor’s rebuttal featured comedian Anthony Atamanuick who did an imitation of Trump that was warmly received by the mostly New York audience.
This year’s show was held at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, the first new venue for the Inner Circle since 1964 when the organization moved to the then-new New York Hilton from the old Hotel Astor.
President Terry Sheridan played off the new location in his opening remarks, pointing out that like another “president” originally from Queens, he too only appears at venues that bear his name, “Sheraton.” Terry thanked the entire cast, the various folks who help out with costumes, event planning, music, choreography and our sponsors.
