Meet Our New Members for 2016
Brenda Blackmon is co-anchor of PIX11 News at 6:30 each weeknight. She has a distinguished tenure as a news anchor in the New York City market.
Brenda has won four Emmy awards, two Edward R. Murrow awards and several other prizes for her reporting and anchoring. She also runs her own communications coaching and consulting business.
Brenda is very active in raising awareness and funds to find a cure for the disease Lupus.
Emily Ngo is a Newsday reporter covering Mayor Bill de Blasio, the City Council and all things City Hall. She worked previously for amNewYork, the New York Post, the Daily Herald in Illinois and the Chicago Sun-Times.
Her hobbies include playing softball, dancing at weddings, cleaning avocado out of her 1-year-old’s hair and ruing the day she chose not to see pre-Broadway “Hamilton” because it sounded “too weird.”
James Ford is a veteran reporter at WPIX, Channel 11, reporting on local, state and national politics, among a variety of other areas. He got his musical chops performing as a child gospel singer and church choir member, and went on to become president of the Yale Glee Club and a tenor in the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.
James grew up all over the place as an Air Force kid and local TV city-hopper, both of which make him certain that New York is his forever home.  He’s lived here for exactly 32 percent of his life, most of which has included dating or being married to his wife. They have an 8 year-old daughter who is proud to have lived in NYC 100 percent of her life.
Laura Nahmias is a reporter at POLITICO New York, where she covers City Hall. She previously covered Albany politics for POLITICO New York, and has written for City and State, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal.
She is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, and a graduate of Wesleyan University and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
