INNER CIRCLE PRESENTS “SHAMILTON” APRIL 9 AT NEW YORK HILTON
The Inner Circle is pleased to announce that its 94th musical parody of New York and national politics, titled “Shamilton,” will take place Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the New York Hilton Hotel, just in time for the New York state Presidential Primary.
Mayor Bill de Blasio, fresh from propelling Bernie Sanders to within a carriage horsehead of winning the Iowa Caucus, now faces his biggest challenge of the political year – rebutting New York City’s reporters at the annual Inner Circle show.
The organization of political reporters is promising a spicy stew of campaign comedy targeting City Hall, Albany and 2016’s lead players: Donald Trump, Hilary Rodham Clinton, Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders and assorted hopefuls and dopefuls.
The April 9th debut is just ten days before the primary and the special elections to fill the seats of convicted state legislature leaders Sheldon Silver and Dean Skelos, a powerball win of material for the show.
“We don’t expect to leave anyone of them unscathed,” said Inner Circle President Andrew Siff, a WNBC-TV political reporter. “We are excited at the abundance of personalities, gaffes, slips and falls. It will be another great show.”
Sticking with the adage that surprise is the best attack, the Inner Circle would only divulge that “Shamilton,” somewhat based on the hit Broadway musical Hamilton,” tells the tale in song and dance of two New York political rivals whose feud forces them to the ultimate showdown.
The IC show is traditionally attended by the mayor and first lady of New York as well as other senior city and state government officials, civic leaders, business executives and members of the news media.
As it has done throughout its long history, the Inner Circle donates proceeds from the gala dinner-show to some 100 New York charities.
