Stan Brooks Way: 10th Ave & West 43rd St.
Of all the New York City streets that Stan Brooks traveled covering every kind of news story for decades, one now fittingly bears his name.
“Stan Brooks Way” is officially the intersection of 10th Avenue and West 43rd Street.
Stan and his late wife, Lynn, lived in that section of Manhattan for many years. Stan (IC’90), one of our most popular members and stage perfromers, died last December. He was 86 years old.
Family, friends, and elected officals joined to celebrate Stan’s life and accomplishments. For more than 40 years, he was the news director, City Hall reporter and global ambassador for 1010 WINS radio, the city’s first all-news radio station.
The street renaming is a second public honor for Stan. In 2013, Mayor Michael Bloomberg officially named the City Hall room where radio reporters file their stories as the “Stan Brooks Radio Room.”
