Four New Members for 2015

Four reporters from TV and print are the newest members of the Inner Circle.

Diane Macedo

They are:  Matt Chayes of Newsday, Jillian Jorgensen of The Observer, Ellyn Marks of PIX11 News, and Diane Macedo of CBS2 New York.

Diane Macedo joined CBS2 News in 2014 as a news anchor and general assignment reporter. Before that, she was a reporter and anchor for the Fox Business Network (FBN) and also reported regularly for the Fox News Channel.Diane is a native of Mineola and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She attended Boston College and discovered her love for broadcast news while working for the community news program, NewTV. in Newton, Massachusetts.

When not anchoring a newscast or chasing a story, Diane can often be found playing sports, cooking for friends and family, singing with various groups, or off on a new outdoor adventure with her husband, Tom.

Matt Chayes

Matthew Chayes covers City Hall for Newsday. His first beat at the newspaper inspired his current Twitter bio (@chayesmatthew): “Used to cover crime. Now I cover politics. Trying to learn the difference.” Matt got his start in 2006 at The Chicago Tribune’s D.C. bureau before freelancing in New York City. He joined Newsday’s staff the following year. Matt’s been a guest on the BBC, NY1 and the Fox News Channel, among other outlets. He also runs high school workshops for the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and serves as a contest judge for the Deadline Club and Society of Professional Journalists.

Ellyn Marks

Ellyn Marks is an Emmy award winning journalist for PIX11 News. She is a general assignment reporter and producer of PIX11 News Closeup, a weekly newsmaker talk program hosted by fellow Inner Circler Marvin Scott.Ellyn has covered everything from high profile crimes and trials, including the Central Park Jogger case, to politics and entertainment.  Ellyn also produced the coverage, and reported from, many Democratic and Republican National Conventions.Ellyn was raised with an appreciation of the Great American Songbook.She is a jazz and cabaret, and movie buff and lives on the Upper West Side with her precious Yorkie “Wylie.” She takes part in her first Inner Circle performance with a warm remembrance of the late John Slattery’s love of the organization.

Jillian Jorgensen

Jillian Jorgensen

Jillian Jorgensen is a senior editor at the New York Observer, where she covers city and state politics. Jillian hails from Staten Island where she previously covered City Hall, education and the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy at her hometown daily, the Staten Island Advance.She began her career in New Hampshire, writing for the New Hampshire Union Leader and the Eagle-Tribune, a daily newspaper covering northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, and won the New Hampshire Press Association’s “Rookie of the Year” award.

She has covered government, schools, murders, criminal trials, politicians, and occasionally the criminal trials of politicians.

Jillian is a graduate of Staten Island Technical High School and Boston University, where she studied political science and print journalism. She has seen Bruce Springsteen live more than 30 times, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of classic Simpsons episodes. She resides in Jersey City, N.J., with her husband Andrew Vischio.
