Bill Federici
Inner Circle member and past president Bill Federici is remembered by all of us for his friendship, baritone singing voice and legendary exploits as a reporter and editor at the New York Daily News.
Bill died April 22, 2014 at his retirement home in Longboat Key, Fla. from lung cancer. He was 82.
Bill was a top crime reporter and had a thrilling adventure in 1965 when he exclusively recovered the priceless DeLong Star Ruby stolen from the American Museum of Natural History.

On stage, Bill was a sizzling talent, a Sinatra-wannabee who electrified his performances for the Inner Circle.

Bill became a member of the Inner Circle in 1968 and president in 1980.
Many of us when we were young reporters learned more than a thing or two about reporting, writing and interviewing from Bill. His advice was never offered as a braggart; only in response to a young reporter’s request, and always with no strings attached.

After a long career at the News, Bill became the public relations chief for Brooklyn Union Gas. He retired in 1996. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War.
A memorial service is planned for May 10 in Princeton, N.J.
